| Artist Statement The photos presented here are to my liking. If you enjoy them it is just a coincidence. I photograph common scenes realizing that over time they will be altered by trending dynamics. Exploration and introspection is my goal. A digital camera with a wide angle or zoom lens is my favorite gear. Creating a subdued reality using reflections, absurd horizon lines and murky details is enjoyable. My images are composed in the viewfinder commonly with a 2×3 aspect ratio. I am most interested in black and white images but color does have its place. Editing of images is kept to a minium. During photo-walks I jot down thoughts in notebooks which I make from recycled cardboard and printing paper. Each walk reveals a scene of light, shapes, textures and tones. I become conscious of my surroundings. The overtone of Yin-yang is vitalizing. My thoughts wander from the present to past. At times the spaces become objects. Light dissipates and intensifies, while tones appear then morph, producing an ever-changing scene. My observations reveal hidden worlds where reality and fantasy exist side by side. Each glance is naturally abstract and creates a narrative to record in my notebook. I do not intend to create photographs to be hung on a wall. I want my images to be as grains of sand on a beach. Maybe this viewpoint will change in the future. I have penned a short bio. nix_morton 02.01.2026 |
